Former Mayor of Municipality in Sarajevo sentenced to Prison

The former mayor of the Sarajevo municipality of Stari Grad, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, has been sentenced to half a year in prison for the criminal offense of violation of employment rights, with a simultaneous ban on holding the position of mayor for four years after the verdict becomes final, the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office confirmed.

Hadžibajrić’s indictment for the aforementioned criminal offense was confirmed on May 9, 2023.

He was charged with illegally dismissing six employees in the Stari Grad Municipality from March 2020 to March 2021.

In April last year, the Sarajevo Cantonal Court confirmed the indictment against Hadžibajrić for the criminal offenses of organized crime in connection with the criminal offenses of abuse of position or authority, accepting gifts and other forms of benefit, money laundering, forgery of official documents, preventing evidence and providing false information on property and income of the Law on Reporting and Procedure for Verification of Property Data of Public Office Holders in the Sarajevo Canton.
