The former US ambassador in Sarajevo, Michael Murphy, criticized the current American administration for its silence at the funeral of the criminal Ratko Mladić in Belgrade.
As he wrote on the X network, there was a lot of well-deserved criticism of the European Union’s clumsy handling of Mladic’s funeral.
“Lost in all this anger was the complete silence of the US administration on the glorification of a convicted war criminal in Serbia and Republika Srpska, a man who was the architect of the genocide that took place in and around Srebrenica in July 1995,” he said.
He believes that the reason for the silence is that “the core of American policy towards Bosnia and Herzegovina reflects the views of a few individuals who mostly share Dodik’s worldview”.
“It’s something that people should find far more alarming than they seem to,” Murphy concluded.
