Today, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance and Treasury Vjekoslav Bevanda signed with the representatives of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Mateo Rivellini and Jacop Lance Orland a financing agreement worth 40 million euros for the Sarajevo City Transport Project.

After the signing of the agreement, which was done correspondently and without ceremonies due to the epidemiological situation, Minister Bevanda said that funds had been provided that would improve the quality of life of the people of Sarajevo County and help protect the environment.

“It is known how many problems Sarajevo has with city transport, traffic jams, but also great air pollution due to all these problems. This project is one of the few that will influence these shortcomings to be addressed. That is why we are grateful to the representatives of the EIB for supporting such a quality and important project for all citizens of Sarajevo, but also for the visitors of this city “, said Bevanda.

He added that this project is of special importance for the residents of the Sarajevo municipality of Vogosca because it refers to the reconstruction of the trolleybus network and vehicle fleet in order to re-establish public transport on this route.

The project will be realized through three related projects, and it refers to the procurement of trolleybuses and the reconstruction of the trolleybus network behind Vogosca, as well as the construction of the southern longitudinal road.

According to the terms of the agreement, this 40m-euro loan has a repayment period of 25 years, including a grace period of five years, and the loan is allocated to the Federation of BiH, the BiH Ministry of Finance and Treasury said in a press release.
