The main inspection team of the Food and Health Directorate of the European Union arrived in BiH in order to ensure that all requirements for export of poultry to EU are met. If inspectors agree that all requirements are met, poultry meat and meat products from BiH could be found on the EU market soon.

Inspectors will visit competent entity ministries of agriculture and entity inspection boards, two laboratories that are doing different types of laboratory analyses in the sector of poultry and four candidate objects, of which two poultry slaughterhouses and two objects for poultry meat processing, in order to assure the proper function of the system of official controls in the sector of poultry.

“This is related to four export objects which we consider as the readiest at this moment, and there are 15 more objects which are getting prepared for the export. That sector is progressing very well, we are the leaders in the region and we have great export potential,” said the Minister.

The inspection will visit meat industries “Madi”, “Ovako” and “Brovis”, which are operating within the Akova Group, and “Agreks”. The visit to the meat industry “Ovako” took place already.

The director of company “Madi” from Tesanj, Maid Jabandzic, said that they have been preparing for this visit since November last year. Inspectors from EU will be hosted in “Madi” next week.

“We are getting space for further capacity expansion, development and opening of new workplaces by going on the market of EU, and that is very important for us,” stated Jabandzic.
