President of the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) Mladen Ivanić said in Sarajevo that we are at the starting point of the process in which the European Union should “open its doors” just a little bit more for BiH and that today’s session was in preparation of European institutions for making that decision.
He said this after the meeting with top EU officials Federica Mogherini and Johannes Hahn.
He emphasized that there are numerous positive attitudes of EU member countries, but there is also some aloofness towards BiH and that BiH politician must express strong will for action.
“Another novelty in relation to other initiatives is that not documents came that political leaders would be forced to sign,” said Ivanić adding that the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has committed itself to prepare the document which should be endorsed by others in the next two to three weeks.
According to him, this is the beginning of a process and there will be a lot of dangers and potential difficulties, but stresses that there are elements that could lead the process all the way and that in the four years period, BiH could perhaps reach the position to obtain candidate status for membership in the EU.
