Franciscan Mirko Majdandžić congratulated the Muslims on Eid al-Fitr in an interesting way with a short sermon and a song.
“We believers in this region – Jews, Muslims, Christians, Orthodox Catholics, all refer to Abraham, that he is our role model, the forefather of faith. Abraham had so much trust in God that even in moments when there was no way out, Abraham believed that God will find a solution,” Fr. Majdandžić began his address.
Then he briefly interrupted his sermon to sing the song “My God, what is the morning”:
My God, what’s the morning. My God, what are the drops. What are the stars I’m looking at. Which gives me a new day. I know I have to cross the river What carries me, what affects me. I know I have to fight and find the right way. So please give me your hand. So please, give me strength Be there when it’s hard. Be there while the sun shines.
He continued the short sermon by connecting Abraham with today’s man.
“Our Muslim brothers are celebrating Eid al Adha today, the memory of that faith and that great trust of Abraham/Ibrahim that God will take care. Thus, while he was going to the hill with his son Isaac to make a sacrifice, he said ‘God will take care, son , to take care of’. With congratulations to all Muslim brothers on this day, the wish is that all of us who refer to Abraham, and travel through life similar to Abraham,” he said.
Once again, he briefly sang the well-known verses, and then said: “Muslim brothers, may you have a happy Eid. Bajram serif mubarek olsun”.
