From the War in Gaza to a new Beginning in BiH

Dr. Ahmed Shahin from Gaza, who recently arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) due to the dire situation in his homeland, has now secured a job at the newly opened ASA Hospital in Sarajevo.

Dr. Shahin is a doctor from Palestine with 27 years of experience working with children and in emergency care. Since 1997, he has been working in children’s hospitals in Gaza and has been on the front lines treating the wounded and vulnerable since the war began.

Due to the difficult situation in Gaza, he was forced to leave his home and come to Sarajevo. He recently announced that he was looking for a job after receiving a work permit from the Medical Chamber of BiH.

ASA Hospital confirmed that Dr. Shahin is now employed with them, and his biography is listed on their official website, noting that he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Tuzla in 1995.

“Experienced as a general practitioner, emergency doctor, and pediatrician. Notably knowledgeable about breastfeeding issues,” reads the official ASA Hospital website.

His wife has also started a small business in Sarajevo to survive after fleeing Gaza, producing traditional Palestinian flatbread. During Ramadan, the people of Sarajevo once again showed great solidarity with those in need, massively buying flatbread from the Shahin family, Klix.ba writes.
