German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul will arrive in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday, November 16.

In Sarajevo, the Minister will meet with the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, as well as with the Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović.

The discussions will focus on evaluating the role of the High Representative for Security and Stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina 30 years after the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, as well as shaping the future of the country, with a particular emphasis on the challenges in the process of joining the European Union.

This visit to Sarajevo marks the start of a trip to all six countries of the Western Balkans, which is the first time that a German Foreign Minister has visited all countries of the region in one trip: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Serbia, Kosovo and North Macedonia.

“Germany sees the Western Balkans as part of the European family and follows the region on its path towards the European Union, in particular through the Berlin Process. The Berlin Process has introduced a new dynamic in the rapprochement of the Western Balkan countries with the European Union and emphasizes Germany’s commitment to a stable and European integrated region,”the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany announced.
