The Parliamentary Military Commissioner of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Boško Šiljegović, spoke in Sarajevo with the German military attaché in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colonel Franz-Josef Nolte, who announced that a new agreement on cooperation will soon be signed, by which the German government will allocate around 2.5 million euros to support the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Šiljegović thanked the Government of Germany for its long-term support to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and expressed his satisfaction that significant funds from the new aid program will be spent on new uniforms, the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

He informed Nolte about the current state of human rights and basic freedoms of members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stating that the key issues and problems are listed in the Report of the Parliamentary Military Commissioner of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2022, which was adopted in both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Šiljegović emphasized that, despite all the problems and challenges they face, the members of the BiH Armed Forces carry out their tasks and goals in a highly professional manner, especially excelling in demining missions, providing support to the civilian population and participating in international peacekeeping missions.

Nolte expressed his satisfaction with the bilateral cooperation in the defense sector, stressing that over the past three years, the Government of Germany in Bosnia and Herzegovina implemented numerous projects to support the modernization process, as well as to finance the reconstruction of the infrastructure of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Emphasizing that he highly values the work of the parliamentary military commissioner in BiH, Nolte announced the possibility of launching a regional cooperation project related to the protection of human rights of members of the Armed Forces, within which the parliamentary military commissioner of BiH would present his experiences and good practices in the countries of the region.
