BiH Minister of Defense Zukan Helez and UNDP Resident Representative in BiH Renaud Meyer signed  an Agreement on Friday on financing the procurement of field uniforms and footwear for members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for which the funds were provided by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The signing was also attended by the German Military Attaché in BiH, Colonel Marc Abendroth, as well as the Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Resources, Major General Mirsad Ahmić and his associates.

Minister Helez thanked the German government for the financial resources in the amount of 6,163,920 convertible marks, and the UNDP for the reliable implementation of this donation, in a situation where the state budget has not yet been adopted, which hinders the implementation of capital projects in the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH.

“The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany is significantly helping us in the renovation of infrastructure, and is our leading partner in equipping the Armed Forces of BiH with a new military uniform. Many thanks to them for that,” said Minister Helez.

He added that the UNDP has once again proven itself as a reliable implementer of significant programs to improve the assets of the Armed Forces of BiH, which is expected to continue in the future.

“We are pleased to help further equip the Armed Forces of BiH, especially their young members, so that they feel protected and safe with the new field uniform,” said the German military attaché on this occasion.

“The uniform is an important means of connecting with each other and building trust with the population for all soldiers. We will be very pleased if we soon see all members of the Armed Forces of BiH in the new field uniform,” emphasized Colonel Abendroth, who thanked UNDP for effectively implementing the process of financing the new series of uniforms for the Armed Forces of BiH.

The UNDP Resident Representative thanked the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany for the trust shown and expressed his readiness for any further cooperation with the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the same way as the long-standing partnership between UNDP and the Armed Forces of BiH has proven.
