Germany takes Bosnia and Herzegovina off Travel Risk List

Germany has removed Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) from the list of risk countries, ie the list of countries with a high risk of coronavirus infection.

The Robert Koch Institute yesterday announced 19 countries and regions that are no longer considered risk areas due to the low rate of coronavirus infection.

What does this decision mean for passengers?

Countries that were removed from the travel risk list are Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, BiH, Canada, Cyprus, Kosovo, Lebanon, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine, and the United States (U.S.).

Some regions in Portugal, Norway, Croatia, Greece, and Switzerland are also no longer considered risk regions.

Passengers entering Germany by plane must present a negative test result, proof of vaccination, or proof that they have had the coronavirus before departure, regardless of whether they have spent time in the risk area, as it was said from the Robert Koch Institute.

The decision takes effect tomorrow, June 13th.

Heiko Maas, German Foreign Minister, said yesterday that in many places the number of infections is decreasing, and more and more citizens are being vaccinated.

”After a long period of lockdown, we can look forward to the normal state, and that includes travel,” told Maas.

For now, it is not known whether there will be changes for citizens from BiH who want to travel to Germany for tourism or some other reason since yesterday’s decision applies only to travel for German citizens, Klix.ba writes.
