Dario Gjergja was appointed yesterday as the coach of the men’s basketball national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
In a statement for the official website of the Basketball Federation of BiH (KSBiH), he said that after the European Championship, he thought he would devote himself only to the club (Limoges), but after talks with the leaders of KSBiH, he decided to take over the national team of BiH.
“It is a great honor and responsibility, considering that BiH has a very good team. Now it is necessary to continue on the path where my dear colleague Adis Beciragic left off. I hope that in the coming period we will achieve results that will be satisfactory, and along the way also build a selection of new young players, whom we will gradually include in the national team. I would also like to thank all members of the Board of Directors of the KSBiH for their trust, and I know what kind of responsibility it is to be the coach of such a good team,” said Gjergja.
He added that starting from today, he will begin contacting all the players and that the roster will soon be announced.
“I would just like us to be given trust. Some things that my colleague Adis did and that were good we will absolutely keep, and we will try to prepare as well as possible for the first ‘window’ of World Cup qualifiers, although we do not have much time,” emphasized the new coach of the BiH team.
