The goal of the RS is to accelerate activities in the realization of the project to in connection to the pipeline “Južni tok”, announced the RS Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining of the RS Željko Kovačević at today’s meeting with representatives of the public company “Srbijagas” from Novi Sad.

“In the next period we will specifically dedicate ourselves to the implementation of activities arising from the signing of the Memorandum on the construction of parts of the pipeline “Južni tok” through the RS’’, said Kovačević.

This, according to him, implies accelerated activities in the administrative-technical area in order to prepare for the signing of a bilateral agreement with the Russian Federation, and activities to define and develop routes, capacities and other technical and operative details.

He added that the project in connecting “Južni tok” is a strategic question and that it represents ‘national interest for the RS”, stating that it is ‘’very likely that it will begin construction in the RS at the end of this year or beginning of next year’’.

Representatives of the company for gas projects “Gas Res” d.o.o. Banja Luka, which the RS government formed for the realization of the project, presented current activities to representatives of “Srbijagas”, as well as a plan that should be compatible with the activities conducted by Serbia.

“After determining the route of the pipeline proposals, we will arrange a number of activities that include a detailed analysis of the legislation necessary for the implementation of the project and other conditions that “Srbijagas” has already achieved in contacts with Russian partners’’, said the acting director of “Gasres” Slobodan Puhalac, noting that these are all prerequisites for the establishment of a joint company of “Gasprom” and “Gasres”.

On behalf of the company “Srbijagas”, the Executive Director for Investment Jovica Budimir and the Executive Director of Legal Affairs Milan Đukić attended the meeting.

“We are ready to give our full support and we bring our experience so that RS could reach the same level of implementation of projects as Serbia as soon as possible’’, said Budimir. He informed participants of all current activities taken by Serbia since the signing of a bilateral agreement to the formation of a joint enterprise and the adoption of a law on “Južni tok”.

At this meeting held in Banja Luka, they agreed that the next meeting would be in Novi Sad at the beginning of next week, while working groups formed from “Gasres” and “Srbijagas” would lead further activities.
