The novel “Nestali u stoljeću” (Gone in a century) by Ivan Lovrenović is the winner of “Mesa Selimovic” award for the best novel published in 2013 on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia. This was a decision made by the jury at the 14th International Literary Meetings Cum grano salis held last night at the International Portrait Gallery “Ismet Mujezinovic” in Tuzla.
I’m not one of those who receive awards. I received several ones, but not of great value, so this award I received in Tuzla I consider as my first award – said Lovrenovic who recalled the ill writer and a friend Irfan Horozović who received the same award 11 years ago.
“Missing the Century” is a book worth of reading and should be taken seriously because it speaks about painful burdens which people endure in life.
For “Meša Selimović” award five novels were nominated: ”Gnusoba” Svetislav Basare – Laguna (Serbia), ”Rod” Miljenko Jergović – Fraktura (Croatia), ”Vrijeme se udaljava” Mirko Kovač – Fraktura (Croatia), ”Nestali u stoljeću” Ivana Lovrenovića – Fraktura (Croatia) and “Nađi me“ Damira Šabotića – Dobra knjiga (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
