The football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina is playing its first match at this year’s World Cup tonight, June 12 at 9 p.m. our time.
The Dragons are playing in Toronto, against the host Canada.
“Good morning Bosnia and Herzegovina! Are we ready for tonight? What we’ve been waiting for begins,” they wrote, adding:
“Behind our Dragons are months of work, sacrifices and the path that brought them among the best teams in the world. Now is the time to take the first step on the biggest football stage. Good luck, guys — play bravely, enjoy the moment and represent the colors of Bosnia and Herzegovina with dignity. We are with you!”
The official press conference “A” of the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held at the Toronto Stadium last night before the match with Canada.
The selector Sergej Barbarez answered the journalists’ questions, who referred to the health bulletin in his opening address:
“Nidal Čelik injured his meniscus two days ago and will have to end it surgically. Arjan Malić will be in his place in the squad for the World Cup.”
The selector says about the performance at the World Cup and the meeting with Canada:
“I am happy to be here and to be a part of this story. This is the biggest match for me. We are all ready, full of desire. These are attributes that have always been with us. We are a small country and this is only our second World Cup. We have the epithet of a team that is not often the favorite, but when you look at the qualifications, you will see that we were ranked better than only two opponents. That says a lot about what kind of thing we did.”
Among other things, Sergej Barbarez also said:
“It is certain that the match will be intense. We play with the host one game from the opening of the championship and of course we want to present ourselves in the best light. Our goal is to play well. We believe in ourselves and will try to pass to the second stage of the competition.”
