The Ministry of Finance of FBiH is tasked to, in accordance with the Article 1 of the Budget Law, make guidelines for the economic and financial policy for this period.

Given that FBiH has no integral strategy of development, the basic documents that determine the strategic orientation of the economic policy of the FBiH Government in the coming period are the Working Plan for the mandate period from 2015 until 2018 and the Reform Agenda for the period from 2015 until 2018, which has been adopted by all governments in BiH, as well as the strategic framework which includes development projects such as the Strategy EU 2020, the Strategy of the development of the Southeastern Europe 2020, and the sectoral strategies on the level of BiH and the FBiH.

Economic policy of the FBiH Government for the period from 2016 until 2018 will significantly influence the National program of economic reforms for BiH for the period from 2017 until 2019, which will direct the action of the federal ministries and institutions towards policies and activities that will contribute the most to the achievement of the previously set goals. Furthermore, it will also influence the implementation of European strategies directed towards the development of specific regions (the Danube region and the Adriatic-Ionian region).

Priorities of the FBiH Government in this period will be fiscal consolidation, increasing the competitiveness of economy, projects of intensifying economic development, strengthening of internal social stability in FBiH, initiating and implementing the reforms harmonized with the needs of BiH on the path towards the EU, strengthening of regional cooperation, and coordination and cooperation with lower levels of authority in FBiH.
