IMG_2546Renovation of Primary School Meša Selimović in Janja in Municipality of Bijeljina, worth 89,074 EUR and implemented in cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, is part of a major fund of the Government of Japan granted today to three primary schools in B&H.

The Japanese Government has granted funds totaling €275,353 to schools Meša Selimović in Janja, Jovan Dučić in Čajniče and Risto Proroković in Nevesinje for various refurbishment and improvement works. These will include the replacement of roofs and windows, sanitary blocks, and the installation of gutters, masonry and central heating.

“The development of multi-ethnic schooling has been at the heart of Janja’s success in encouraging return and in developing an integrated society,” said Ambassador Fletcher M. Burton, the Head of the OSCE Mission to B&H. “I am therefore very grateful to the Embassy of Japan for agreeing to fund improvements to the school in Janja.  This will provide the physical environment that the children deserve.  It provides a fitting tribute to the efforts of Bijeljina Municipality, Janja Community and the school management in separating education from politics and in creating a welcoming learning environment for all children”.
