The Government of Republika Srpska adopted a Decision on Determining Margins in the Trade of Certain Products, which sets the maximum margin that wholesalers and retailers may charge when selling products such as flour, salt, sugar, baby food, and medicines.

As Republika Srpska’s Minister of Trade and Tourism Ned Puhovac said, the aim of this measure is to stabilize the market situation.

He emphasized that the trade margins will apply until June 1.

“The products covered by this decision include salt, lard, vegetable fat, oil, milk, yogurt, wheat flour, all types of wheat bread, sugar, baby food, diapers for children and adults, dishwashing and laundry detergents, and medicines,” Puhovac said at a press conference following the session of the Government of Republika Srpska.

The decision sets a maximum margin of six percent in wholesale and eight percent in retail.

It also sets margins for medicines, prescribing a maximum margin of eight percent in wholesale and 20 percent in retail.

He announced that inspection services will conduct daily inspections, emphasizing that high margins have already been recorded.

Inspection oversight over the implementation of this decision will be carried out by the Republika Srpska Administration for Inspection Affairs through the Republic Market Inspector and market inspectors in local self-government units, in accordance with the authorities prescribed by the Law on Price Regulation and the regulations governing inspection supervision.
