At its last extraordinary session, the Government of the Canton of Sarajevo accepted the Initiative of the Ministry of Economy of the Canton of Sarajevo to withdraw the decision to increase the prices of electricity to businessmen from the area of the Canton of Sarajevo.

The Government instructed the Ministry of Economy to submit the Initiative and the related Conclusion to the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Public Enterprise Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine.

“The Association of Employers of Sarajevo Canton addressed the Ministry of Economy of CS with information in which they claim that JP Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine submitted offers to companies, members of this association, for concluding new contracts for electricity supply, with an enormous increase in price compared to the price valid in the previous annual contract of these companies with the mentioned company “, they state.

Given the negative consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the general business conditions, new, enormous, more expensive electricity would further jeopardize the business of a large number of businesses, and thus their liquidity, and lead to the loss of many jobs and reduce competitiveness. market, as this price increase automatically entails an increase in the prices of finished products to end consumers.

“Due to all the above, the Government of Sarajevo Canton with this initiative asks the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and JP Elektroprivreda BiH to reconsider the decision to increase electricity prices, and accordingly return electricity prices to the prices from the previous contract period,” they added.
