At yesterday‘s emergency session, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) made a decision to allocate two million BAM for the purchase of medicines for children suffering from cystic fibrosis.

A few days ago, the children’s parents protested in front of the FBiH Government building because they did not receive the promised money for the purchase of the much-needed medicineKaftrio. After that, they met with Prime Minister Niksic, who promised that it would be finished.

“The decision on the redistribution of funds from the FBiH Budget for 2023 is to redistribute the amount of two million BAM to the Federal Ministry of Health, as part of ongoing transfers to other levels of government and funds – the Institute of Health Insurance and Reinsurance of the FBiH,” stated the FBiH Government.

At the proposal of the Federal Ministry of Health, the Decision on Amendments to the Decision on the Adoption of the Fund Spending Program with criteria for the distribution of funds “Current transfer to other levels of government and funds – for the FBiH Health Insurance and Reinsurance Institute” was adopted, as determined by the FBiH Budget for 2023 to this ministry.

With the amendments, the funds for securing the right to medicines and medical supplies financed by the funds of the federal solidarity fund were increased by two million BAM, and the contents of the program included medicines for the treatment of cystic fibrosis.

Namely, at the proposal of this ministry, the Decision on the List of Medicines of the Solidarity Fund of the FBiH was also amended. Two medicines for the treatment of cystic fibrosis patients were added to this list as part of the “Special Program” addition.

In the explanation, it was stated that it was necessary to include medicines for cystic fibrosis in the list of medicines of the Federal Solidarity Fund in accordance with legal regulations.

With the first decision made yesterday, the Institute of Health Insurance and Reinsurance of the FBiH is responsible for undertaking the necessary activities within the framework of its competences for the procurement of medicines for cystic fibrosis, Klix.ba reports.
