The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and FBiH Minister of Finance Jelka Milićević, approved three bills in the field of the energy sector in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and sent them to the parliamentary procedure at today’s session in Sarajevo.

The FBiH Government approved the bill on electricity, the bill on energy and the regulation of energy activities, and the bill on the use of renewable energy sources and efficient cogeneration in the Federation of BiH, which the FBiH Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry proposed to the Government to improve the legal framework and harmonize it with the regulations of the European Union.

The bill on electricity of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina governs electric power policy and planning, as well as electric power activity and the license to perform it, as well as the regulation of this activity. The law regulates, among other things, the construction of power plants, as well as the production and distribution of electricity, as well as the supply and trade of electricity.

The bill on energy and regulation of energy activities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina regulates, among other things, the method of determining and implementing energy policy and development planning, as well as the commitment to use renewable energy sources and achieving energy efficiency, as well as the organization and functioning of the regulatory body.

The third bill approved today is on the use of renewable energy sources and efficient cogeneration in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The aim of this law is to promote and regulate the production of electricity and heating and cooling energy from renewable energy sources and efficient cogeneration, as well as the use of renewable energy sources in transport for consumption on the domestic market and increasing the share in total energy consumption. The goal is also to ensure the development of incentive measures, regulatory framework and technical infrastructure for renewable energy sources and efficient cogeneration.

Both houses of the FBiH Parliament passed conclusions on the acceptance of these bills in the form of a draft at their sessions in July this year and requested the holding of public hearings, which the Ministry carried out, the Press Service of the FBiH Government announced.
