Government subsidizes the Purchase of Firewood for Pensioners

The Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Canton (BPK) Goražde Edin Ćulov and the President of the Association of Pensioners of the City of Goražde Suljo Bekan signed today a contract on subsidizing firewood for pensioners from the area of BPC Goražde.

For these purposes, the cantonal government will allocate 30,000 BAM, and the funds are intended to subsidize the purchase of 3,000 cubic meters of firewood for the needs of pensioners, in such a way that one cubic meter will be subsidized with 10.00 BAM.

President of the Association of Pensioners Suljo Bekan emphasized that this type of assistance is of great importance for this population.

“The government of BPC Goražde for the first time found the possibility to subsidize the purchase of firewood for the upcoming heating season of our pensioners in this way. In addition to subsidies, pensioners are enabled to purchase firewood through J.P. ‘Bosansko-podrinjska šume’ in up to ten monthly installments, instead of the eight that was the case until now. This is a relief for us, considering that one meter of chopped firewood costs 110.00 BAM,” said Bekan.

The association of pensioners is obliged to make a list of pensioners who paid for firewood through JP “Bosansko-podrinjska šume” d.o.o. Goražda, in order to pay the subsidy in accordance with the decision of the Government of BPC Gorazde.

“It is a program to help pensioners, and in the conversation with the president of the association of pensioners it was possible to conclude that the material position of our pensioners is at a very low level, and that this type of help will be of great importance to them, given that according to statistical data, the largest number of pensioners receive the lowest pension in FBiH. And in the coming period, the Government of BPC Goražda will try to do something more, in order to improve the status of pensioners in the area of BPC Gorazde, the way they deserve it,”  said the Prime Minister of BPC Goražde, Edin Ćulov.
