The women’s basketball team of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) defeated Sweden in the last match at Eurobasket with a score of 82:63 and secured a place in the qualifications for the  World Cup 2022.

Our team on the wings of the phenomenal Jonquel Jones opened the match for the 5th to 8th place in Valencia. Jones scored the first 16 of 18 points for our team to lead 18: 6 in the 6th minute of the mentioned match.

The first quarter ended with the lead of our national team with the result 25:10, and Jones scored 19 points with 8 rebounds.

At the beginning of the second quarter, the advantage for our selection grew to plus 19 (34:15), and then the Swedes took advantage of the fact that Jones was resting and reduced the gap to 13 points difference (36:23). But, with the return of Jones to the game, our team began to dominate once again, and at halftime, the result was 55:31 for BiH.

In the third quarter, both teams played very poorly in attack, and the Swedes solved it in their favor with the result of 19:11, so our team entered the last part of the game with an advantage of 16 points difference (66:50).

Our players opened the last ten minutes of the game with a series of 9:0, and they calmly brought the match to an end and deservedly started to celebrate. Jones went to the bench five minutes before the end and ended the match with 34 points and 19 rebounds with an unreal usefulness index of 51. Along with Jones, the only one with a double-digit performance in our selection was Nikolina Babic who scored 17 points.

BiH basketball players were supposed to found out the final ranking after the match between Spain and Russia (which was held yesterday at 3 p.m.). Since Russia won, our basketball players took fifth place.

Our selection has secured a place in the qualifications for the World Cup, which will be held from September 22nd to October 1st, 2022 in Australia.

In the qualifications that will be played in February 2022, 16 national teams that took the best placements at the continental championships will participate. The six best teams from Europe, the four best from the United States (U.S.), the four best from Asia, and the two best from Africa will play, Klix.ba writes.
