bh_dijasporaThere is a great interest and willingness of highly qualified and successful citizens originated from B&H who live in Diaspora to return and to be involved in the development processes of the country, but in this context it is necessary the involvement of all levels of government – said for the Agency Fena, the Assistant of Minister for Human Rights and Refugees in B&H of Diaspora Sector, Ruzmira Tihić-Kadrić.

It was pointed out that the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees, within its jurisdiction in regard to policy of migration, have regular access to the number of examples of the enormous potentially and highly qualified people with B&H origins working in developed countries around the world.

“The recommendations of EU are going in direction of connecting the migration and development of countries and our strategic and programmatic orientation goes into that direction as well. Last year we started with the process of inclusion of the Diaspora in the development processes, but it is not consistent with the actual capabilities. However, we have done a step”, argued Tihic-Kadrić.

She added that the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees will provide to all interested institutions with the contacts of Diaspora people in order to bring Diaspora closer to the development of  B&H.

The Ministry within its jurisdiction is trying to collect data and to establish cooperation with citizens of B&H in the world, such as with organizations as well as with individuals.

Also we are collected data on successful citizens in the world, doctors of science, business people, entrepreneurs, and experts. There are published several publications in this sector, and there is still in the process the preparation of the “Business Database of Diaspora”

“The aim is to point out the vast of resources that B&H has in Diaspora and to encourage relevant institutions at all levels of government to cooperate with these people so they turn in to development processes”,  stressed Tihic-Kadrić.

“Our Diaspora is still very well linked to the country, for which there are several indicators of remittances, willingness to cooperate and frequent visits to B&H”, notes Tihic-Kadrić.

She says that the greatest interest of the Diaspora is to help their pre-war community and is in accordance with the program of ministry “Migration and Development in the local community”.

The project was approved and its aim is to include resources of the Diaspora in the development of local communities in B&H.

B&H is ranked on second place in Europe by the extent of emigration in relation to the total population with 1,471,594 immigrants, making 38.9 percent of the total population of B&H.

B&H also occupies a leading position in Europe and in the world in regard to the rate of emigration of highly educated people which is 23.9 percent.
