Almin Karamehmedovic from Sarajevo has been appointed president of ABC News, one of the largest TV networks in America.

Karamehmedovic takes the position after Kim Goodwin announced her plans to retire.

As president, Karamehmedovic will oversee the day-to-day operations of ABC News and lead the teams behind World News Tonight with David Muir, Good Morning America, The View, 20/20, Nightline, ABC News Live and ABC News Studios.

“I approach this role with great respect and humility, not only for the hundreds of colleagues around the world whose tireless contributions fuel ABC News’ unwavering and unbiased reporting, but also for the viewers we serve,” Karamehmedovic said.

He joined ABC News as an editor based in London in 1998 and later became one of the first journalists to gain access to Tora Bora, Afghanistan, where Osama bin Laden was hiding.

In 2003, he joined the United States (U.S.) military during the invasion of Iraq, and in 2005, he was one of the first journalists to travel to Sudan to cover the genocide.

The news about the appointment was also announced by his brother Belmin Karamehmedovic, who is the director of BHRT.

“This is a fantastic achievement that very few media professionals can boast of and that’s why I’m sharing this news to share my immense pride and happiness with all my friends and well-wishers! Master, you beat the game, kudos to you, I am so happy, bow down to you,” said Belmin Karamehmedovic, Klix.ba writes.
