Winner of this year’s Grammy for the best vocal jazz album and currently the most demanded male vocal on the worlds’ jazz scene, Gregory Porter, will open the 18th Jazz Fest Sarajevo. This year the festival will take place from 4 to 9 November.
Although only 7 months are left until the beginning of the festival, the list of participants is known for a long time and it is important to mention that there are 3 more Grammy winners on it.
Notwithstanding, Gregory Porter has 3 albums which are published in the last 4 years, and every one has earned a nomination for a Grammy, and the last one Liquid Spirit earned 2 nominations. In short period of time, Porter conquered the audience and critiques.
His concerts across the United States of America and Europe are sold months in advance, and the media called this artist a “genius”, “the brilliant new voice of jazz” and “the new big jazz singer”. This American artist was declared by the music critics from Jazz Times as the vocal of the year. Moreover, the critics of the magazine DownBeat declared him artist of the year and the vocalist of the year in the the category of “Stars in ascent”.
The song named Hey Laura, from the album Liquid Spirit will be presented to the Bosnian audience on 4. November. This song was nominated for a Grammy, in the category of the best R&B performance.
