The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, said today that Iran has the capacity to rebuild its nuclear facilities, amid conflicting reports about the damage caused by major US military strikes over the weekend.

“The technical know-how and the industrial capacity are there and no one can deny that,” he said on the sidelines of a crisis meeting with the Austrian government in Vienna.

Some parts of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure survived the attacks, he said.

He declined to comment on the Israeli and US strikes on Iran’s nuclear program.

“A military operation has its own logic and I am not here to judge whether it is good or bad. We have the situation we have,” he said.

Tehran called on the IAEA to condemn the attacks.

Restoring nuclear inspections in Iran is “priority number one,” Grossi said.

He acknowledged that any investigation into the facilities damaged by the attacks would be difficult.
