Al Di Meola, the brilliant virtuoso, guitar legend and by the general opinion, one of the greatest guitarists of the past few decades, will perform in Sarajevo.
In his rich, 4 decades long career, Di Meola left a significant influence on the scene from the very beginning. With only 19 years old, Chick Corea invited him into his ensemble “Return to Forever”, with whom he won a Grammy Award for the best group performance back in 1975. He performed and collaborated with some of the greatest artists of his time, exploring different styles and building his own unique style at the same time, which made him to become recognized in the field of so-called jazz rock fusion.
His discography is made out of numerous albums. Solo album, Elegant Gypsy, which was the second album that Di Meola published in his career back in 1977, has a cult status and it is considered as one of the most influential albums in general. As a member of the legendary trio with Paco de Lucia and John McLaughlin, he recorded one of the most important guitar live albums, which was sold in multi-million copies.
Sarajevo concert will be held within the 19th Jazz Fest Sarajevo, on the 5th of November at BKC. Italian guitarist Peo Alfonsi and Hungarian drummer and percussionist Peter Kaszas will perform with Di Meola. They will present Di Meola’s latest album Elysium in the acoustic style repertoire, as well as compositions from previous albums.
