Hamas: Palestinians reject Trump’s Resettlement Plan

Palestinian Hamas on Sunday rejected US President Donald Trump’s call to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Jordan and Egypt.

“Our people, who stood steadfast in the face of the most horrific acts of genocide in modern history committed by the fascist Israeli occupation army, categorically reject any plans to relocate or deport them from their land,” Hamas said in a statement.

They called on the US administration “to abandon these proposals, which are in line with Israeli plans and which conflict with the rights and free will of the Palestinian people.”

They asked the US administration “to work towards enabling the Palestinian people to achieve freedom and establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.” Hamas also called on Washington to pressure Israel “to accelerate the mechanisms for rebuilding what was destroyed during the brutal war in Gaza and restoring normal life.”

They appealed to Arab and Islamic nations, especially Egypt and Jordan, “to reaffirm their firm positions of rejection of resettlement and deportation” and to provide all forms of support to the Palestinian people.

Describing Gaza as a “place to be demolished,” Trump on Saturday called for “just clearing” the Palestinian enclave and resettling Palestinians in Jordan and Egypt.
