One of the first tourist villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina was built in the upper Sanica between Kljuc and Sanski Most. In the summer months, the area around this ‘City of Flowers’ springs to life.
Hundreds of people sit around in Banja Ilidza, famous for its healing waters. It has a large picnic area, an outdoor swimming pool and a mud pool.
Also close to Sanski Most is the source of the Dabar River that swells from an enormous cave, and the Blihi River that creates a beautiful waterfall by tumbling 72m. In town itself the Hamza-begova Mosque, dated 1557, is worth a visit. It was built on the place where Sultan Mehmed Fatih first prayed after conquering the town in 1463.
Summer is the time when the diaspora comes on vacation, which does not regret spending money in their country. Sanska Ilidza is an ideal opportunity to offer them quality and at the same time healing, for which the Krajina people go to Topusko in neighboring Croatia for years, or to Sarajevo, to Ilidza.
Sanski Most is a city of health – it was named after the eponymous river Sana, which is named after the Latin word “Aqua Sanus”, which means “healthy water”.
The experience of driving or walking through the Sana canyon to Kljuc, a tour of the Old Town and other cultural, historical and natural beauties that this area offers are more reasons for this story to see the light of day, to make the tourist offer even richer.
Sanska Ilidza has a chance, nature gave its best, the best it could. It is up to man to simply take what nature has to offer. Thermal water is blessed as a remedy by both nature and God.
