The Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo is implementing the youth employment project (Yep) called “Production-educational agricultural polygon of urban agriculture Mojmilo” through the PE “Lokom” and with the support of the Government of Switzerland.

The project is implemented in the cooperation with the German Society for Organization, Planning, and Training (GOPA) with the aim of development of urban agriculture through the production of organic food, which further provides employment of the population as well as the improvement of the economic development of the municipality.

The director of “Lokom” Ramiz Durakovic noted that a total of 14,000 seedlings of raspberries were planted in the Forest Park Mojmilo on ten dunums of land and that preparation for the greenhouse production or autumn planting of vegetable crops is currently taking place.

“We will produce healthy organic food that we will place through the Bosnian market in Dobrinja. We employed five young people with high school education and one with high education through this project, and we are planning the employment of new people as well,” said Durakovic.

Realization of this project will give a new life to the entire complex, which already has planned sports and recreational park contents. This locality will be under the surveillance for 24 hours.

The value of the project is estimated at 130,000 BAM, and it is planned to employ nine more people from the Employment Bureau. At this locality are planned autochthonous varieties of apple, pear, plum, walnut, and hazelnut, as stated from the Municipality of Novi Grad, Sarajevo.
