electionsAn extraordinary session of the Central Election Commission (CEC) will be held on Sunday 5th February and it is likely that the new elections in Stolac will be announced. Suad Arnautovic, a member of the CEC, confirmed to BHRT that new elections will be held on 19th February.

Yesterday, the CEC received the decision by the Appellate Division of the Court, by which the appeals filed by the Initiative for Stolac and the Social Democratic Front are rejected, which created conditions for announcement of new elections in Stolac.

A spokeswoman for CEC Maksida Pirić, said that the CEC received two decisions of the Appellate Division of the Court, by which the appeal against the decision of the CEC is rejected.

From Initiative for Stolac said that that they will not give up the fight. Demir Mahmutćehajić from the Initiative for Stolac said that they will wait for the explanation and see if they can appeal the decision of CEC regarding the same subject.

“If we cannot complain, then we will send the appeal to the Constitutional Court which is still considering our three appeals related to the removal from the list,” said Mahmutćehajić.

Due to the incidents on the polling stations, the electoral process in Stolac terminated on 2nd October, on the day of municipal elections. The Appellate panel affirmed the decision of the CEC of BiH on the removal from the lists of candidates for mayor of Stolac Salmir Kaplan, and candidates for municipal council Demir Mahmutćehajič, Ahmet Ljubović and Božo Raguz.

Earlier, the Court confirmed the decision of the CEC to dismiss the municipal election administration in Stolac.
