banja-vrucica-bazeniThe great development potential for a better positioning of BiH as a tourist destination are the numerous high-quality thermal springs that could be find in more than 15 locations throughout the country.

According to Poslovne Novine, the number of overnights in ZTC Banja Vrućica last year was the highest in the last 20 years. The number of overnights was 164.000, which is a 7 percent increase than in relation to last year.

When it comes to planned investments in the hospital for physical therapy and rehabilitation “Mlječanica” in Kozarska Dubica, there are currently negotiations underway between the RS government and the management of the hospital.

“If the negotiations are realized, then in 2013 and 2014 will bring modernization, increased capacity, and investment could reach around 14.000.000 KM”, announced the Executive Director for non-medical tasks Željko Ivošević for Poslovne Novine.

According to him, around 95 percent of the total capacity of the hospital is directed towards patients who come through the Health Insurance Fund, while only five percent of the revenue generated is a result of medical tourism.

Given that most of the patients come from the RS Health Insurance Fund, there is no problem when it comes to occupancy capacity.

However, the wait list is long and the average waiting time is four to five months, and it is more in some departments.

In 2012 in this hospital, there were around 3.800 patients, according to Poslovne Novine.
