High Representative Christian Schmidt congratulates the citizens and leadership of Brčko District on the occasion of 8 March, Brčko District Day.

“This is a good opportunity to reflect on positive developments while recognizing there is still more to be done to improve the lives of Brčko District residents and to make the District more attractive for investments and business opportunities.

Brčko District’s favorable geographic position coupled with good governance is a significant starting asset for a prosperous and well-developed District. Accountable administration is indispensable for any community’s progress and development. To that end, residents of Brčko District and potential investors need to see concrete improvements in the provision of public services. I want to thank the Principal Deputy High Representative and Brčko District Supervisor Michael Scanlan and the leadership of Brčko District for their invested effort and progress achieved in furthering the development of Brčko District, which is important not only for Brčko itself, but also for BiH in general. I wish them further success in the future,” said High Representative Schmidt.

High Representative Schmidt emphasised his firm commitment towards Brčko’s development into a vibrant and prosperous community – an engine for the entire BiH, adding that he would closely monitor the situation in the District.
