On Friday, the mayor of Konjic, Osman Catic, held a reception for Sead Gakic, a fourth-grade student of the Konjic High School ”Mathematical and Informatics Gymnasium”, who after the Economics Olympiad in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was placed among the five best who will represent BiH at the finals of the Economics Olympiad 2023.
Enisa Karkelja, principal of Konjic High School and mentor professor Merima Memic attended the reception along with Sead.
“I congratulate Sead, his family together with the principal and mentor on their success, both for the school and for our city. Being the best school among 100 or more schools, and being one of the 5 students who will represent BiH among more than 600 students is a great and significant success. I thank Sead for his dedicated work and I hope that the preparations he has had will yield the result he desires. The city of Konjic will be and has been a supporter of these and similar activities that are carried out in schools. I wish him a safe trip and much success in the future,” said Mayor Catic.
”The future belongs to young people. I am glad that our mayor, principal, and mentor professor support young people, not only me but also others. The future belongs to us and we need to shape our city, our country into something better for everyone,” told a student Sead Gakic.
“I am glad that young people finally see that only a financially literate person can actively participate in the development of society, and Sead has shown with his success that young people have a sense for it,” emphasized mentor Merima Memic, speaking about the importance of the international competition Economics Olympiad 2023 for students, Klix.ba reports.
