GoGreen is the first mobile application in Bosnia and Herzegovina that locates green islands, connects citizens with government institutions, educates young people and scans waste.

It is available in 14 municipalities and cities, and was designed by a team of young people at last year’s hackathon held under the Regional Program for Local Democracy in the Western Balkans – ReLOaD, funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

After a year of activities and consultation with the development team led by Jasminka Hasić Telalović, the GoGreen application was put into operation in the partner municipalities and cities of the ReLOaD project.

The application connects citizens with government institutions through direct contact and reporting of improperly disposed of waste, and enables easier sorting of waste and finding containers for selective disposal.

“Our goal was to support the development of an innovative solution that will enable the connection of people in the community – 14 partner municipalities and cities – Jablanica, Kakanj, Modriča, Maglaj, Centar Sarajevo, Bosanski Brod, Bijeljina, Rudo, Trebinje, Travnik, Vitez, Tuzla, Tešanj and Sokolac.

All these communities use the application and have already reported positive reactions in the public. Transparent and two-way communication with local authorities is at the heart of the ReLOaD program, and we in the European Union are proud to be able to support such interesting and useful initiatives,” said the project manager in the Delegation of the European Union Vladimir Pandurević.

GoGreen serves as a call for all citizens to act together with government institutions. The app is available for Android and iOS users, the UNDP said.
