The female humanitarian organization “Duga”, due to the increased interest of women from Banja Luka for handicrafts, will start organizing in September new sewing, knitting, weaving, crocheting and embroidery courses, and what is interesting is that younger girls wish to learn this craft.
“We successfully completed one season of courses in April, and now we have more that are interested. Due to the annual holiday, we had to move it to September’’, said “Duga”.
“Duga” said that there is a rapid increase in the interest of young people for handicrafts, especially for sewing.
“We mostly have those that are interested for sewing and in every new course this number is rising. These are mostly young girls, students of architecture or textile design, who wish to learn the basic techniques of crafts. We have many girls who are going to school, as well as older people’’, said Borka Maslač, member of “Duga”.
According to her, weaving, crocheting and knitting were very popular in the last few years, due to everyday needs in the household, and sewing is currently the most wanted among handicrafts.
In the last season in “Duga”, there were around 40 candidates, but due to the high interest, in September more participants are expected. The price of a sewing course, as well as other courses, is 50 KM.
