The Public Enterprise “Highways FB&H” presented monograph “The first 100 kilometers” last night in Sarajevo, which presents the beginnings of highway construction, the workflow and new projects related to the continuation of construction of the highway in FB&H in seven chapters.
Director of PE “Highways FB&H”, Ensad Karić, said that 100 kilometers of the road is not a small thing, and that this monograph is a way to express the gratitude towards all who have previously participated and helped in the highway construction, and it is also a stimulus for the further work on the highway and for the further development of B&H.
“We are moving on, we made a lot of projects and traffic studies on environmental impacts and we tried to change certain things, such as the construction of 9.5 kilometers long tunnel through the Prenj, single tube road tunnel, that would shortened the distance between Konjic and Mostar to 26 kilometers” he said.
The Minister of Transport and Communications of FB&H, Denis Lasić, has paid much attention to the continuity of the highway construction in the FB&H and announced that 46 % of the highway on the Corridor 5c in the FB&H should be completed by the end of 2016. The goal is that the A1 highway is completed by 2020.
He emphasized that the investment in the construction, modernization and development of transport infrastructure in the FB&H are extremely important and reminded that construction of another 80 kilometers of the highway still remains.
He announced a ‘’working summer and continuation with the same intensity to build and connect cities and people from our country with Europe”.
A total of 5,000 workers were engaged in the highway construction for the past three years, and 1.25 billion BAM was invested in the project. This gave a significant contribution to development of B&H economy.
The promotion was held in the Sarajevo City Hall, and was attended by representatives of political and public brunches.
