HNC Police demands the Payment of 4 million marks of Debt

The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC) police union held a one-hour warning strike over unpaid debts following final court rulings.

The union is asking the HNC government to pay four and a half million marks by the end of the budget year, out of a total of 27 million marks in debt, including interest, which has accumulated since 2003, when lawsuits were filed for violations of labor rights under current collective agreements.

“This is one of the steps we want to take to point out our dissatisfaction. If the government does not comply with the agreement on the payment of claims after this, we will determine further steps in accordance with the law,” Vido Maric, deputy president of the HNC Police Union, told Fena.

Maric reminds that the Police Union held a meeting with Interior Minister Sladjan Bevanda and Finance Minister Adnan Faladzic in June, at which the manner and dynamics of payment of this type of debt for 2021 were agreed upon, but states that the agreement was never reached.

The HNC Police Union says that today’s warning strike is the first step and emphasizes that by initiating new lawsuits, if no payment is made by the end of the budget year, the HNC Government would only complicate the budget situation.
