zara 1You have been walking all day long, exploring Sarajevo?

You just want to sit in a cosy place where you can try something delicious, relax and simply chat? We have just the place for you!

We strongly recommend ‘Žara iz duvara’, a new restaurant situated behind the market Markale (Dženetića Čikma street), walking distance from the town centre.

The restaurant specialises in traditional Bosnian dishes, but adds its own distinct flavour by reviving the use of some of the more neglected ingredients such as barley, mountain herbs, preserves and homemade chutney.
zara3The menu changes regularly but some favourite dishes include sarma, klepe, dolma, ćevap or a traditional Bosnian meat stew cooked in a woodfire oven combined with Žara’s homemade cabbage salad.

Thirsty? Try a healthy and refreshing pomegranate or elder homemade juice and above all don’t forget to try some delicious Herzegovinian wine.

And if you feel like singing and dancing, don’t miss Žara’s live music blues or flamenco nights.

zara 2Besides music events, Žara also organizes literary events like poetry readings so it’s really the perfect place to feel the cultural spirit of the town.

The restaurant owners are very friendly while the atmosphere in this rustic restaurant is so laid back that you will feel at home right away.

Do visit!
