12825176_1737767439793266_729744007_n20 years time interval. Two persons. Two photos. Same place. Different emotions. Mother and daughter. Now and then.

Photo that was made 20 years ago, found itself in Marie Claire Magazine for the German market, and after 20 years it awakened the emotions that only mother and daughter can produce.

Nadine and her mother Belma were among the first returnees to Sarajevo from Cologne. They landed at the airport in Split from Germany, where their grandfather was waiting for them. After landing from a military plane, they started their journey to Sarajevo.

Nadine did not know how Sarajevo looks like until then. Belma, on the other hand, found Sarajevo that she could not recognize.

Journalists of the magazine Marie Claire followed Belma for days. She was in shock, because it was not Sarajevo that she remembered.

Years after, Nadine moved in Zadar to live with her father, where she lived until three years ago. Then she returned to Sarajevo, where she enrolled in the Academy of Performing Arts.

20 years after the original photo, and bitterness, Nadine went to the exhibition in the City Hall with her mom, where they repeated the photo from 20 years ago.

Same frame, same location, same lighting, different emotions. Nadine learned to love Sarajevo, and Belma now has a smile on her face.
