House of Peoples of the BiH PA on the Dismissal of Nikola Spiric

An emergency session of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH is scheduled for today in Sarajevo, with a proposal on the dismissal of Nikola Špirić (SNSD) on the agenda.

This agenda item was proposed by delegates to the House of Peoples: Nenad Vuković (PDP), Želimir Nešković (SDS), Ilija Cvitanović (HDZ 1990), Zlatko Miletić (ZNG) and Kemal Ademović (NiP).

One of the proposers, Nenad Vuković, previously stated that there was a sufficient number of delegates who would vote no confidence in Špirić, given that, as he stated, the majority of political parties and delegates had already publicly stated that they were not in favor of Špirić serving in the Collegium from the ranks of the Serb people.

Vuković emphasized that “the dismissal of Nikola Špirić is not an introduction to new problems, but the beginning of resolving the existing crisis and all the existing problems that we are witnessing when it comes to the level of government in BiH”.

On February 16, Nikola Špirić, who was the first deputy speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH at the time of the motion for dismissal, took over the position of Speaker of the House as part of the regular rotation. The position of the first deputy speaker of the House of Peoples is currently held by Kemal Ademović, while the position of the second deputy speaker is held by Dragan Čović.
