How are senior Police Officers in BiH sentenced to Prison Terms still working?

High-ranking police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the West Herzegovina Canton were sentenced to prison for falsifying recruitment documents, but they filed complaints and are still working unhindered in their positions.

This is the story of the West Herzegovina Canton that surfaced and showed one of the many absurdities in our country.

How serious the situation is is shown by the fact that the actors of this story are the head of the department for personnel affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of West Herzegovina CantonIngrid Milos and the head of the criminal police of the Police Administration Posusje Mario Basic.

The Ljubuski Municipal Court sentenced them to seven months in prison on the indictment of the West Herzegovina CantonCantonal Prosecutor’s Office in Siroki Brijeg because they falsified the documents that elected the civil service mediator in that canton.

No sanctions

What is worrisome in this story is the fact that two high-ranking people in the structures of the police, which are supposed to enforce the law, are doing their job without any sanctions, despite criminal proceedings.

To make matters worse, even their authorities do not see anything objectionable in this, so Police Commissioner of West Herzegovina Canton Ivan Brkic told that this all happened before he was appointed as Police Commissioner of West Herzegovina Canton.

He points out that the three commissioners before him did not suspend them, so, as he says, “since they did not do it for so many years, neither will I. The court proceedings are nearing the end and I am waiting for its conclusion”.

“I am the fourth commissioner in a row since that case, which happened in 2015 and was reported in 2017. They were not suspended and the disciplinary procedure could not be conducted because it was time-barred. However, now the procedure is almost over, this is an invalid verdict and I expect that the final verdict will be issued soon, and if it is confirmed like this, they will be left without a job according to the current law,” the police commissioner of the West Herzegovina Canton told, Klix.ba reports.
