International Women’s Day, March 8th, looked quite different in Sarajevo 31 years ago…

It was 1993, a time when Sarajevo was under siege, and not only was it the first wartime March 8th, but it was also the toughest year of war in the besieged city.

So, one lady decided to ask soldiers for two buckets of water “because it’s March 8th”, while another ran across an intersection where a sniper was shooting and miraculously marveled at “the kind of day she had”…

And what did a girl in uniform wish for on March 8th, and what kind of greeting did a boy give to his mom that morning – find out in this emotional video by Srdjan Vuletic.

The video can be watched here.
