received_1154841434566811The Council of Ministers of BiH adopted and will forward to the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH the Information by the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees on the situation with emigration, which states that 1.677.177 persons born in BiH live out of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while with the descendants, the second and the third generation, this number reached two million.
The rate of emigration from BiH in relation to the number of people in the country amounts to 44.5 percent, which makes BiH one of the countries with the highest number of emigrants in relation to the total number of population.

The largest number of emigrants live in Croatia (409.357), Serbia (335.992), Germany (159.380), Austria (149.755), the USA (132.255), Slovenia (96.921), Switzerland (57.542), and Sweden (56.477). The majority of BiH citizens are well educated, professionally and economically established in the countries where they currently reside.

According to the Information, the best results of cooperation between local communities and diaspora have been achieved in municipalities that have the established offices for cooperation with diaspora.

Although there are several strategic documents in BiH that partially create conditions for connecting the expatriates with the development of the country, in practice it proved not to be enough. That is why the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees, in cooperation with other relevant institutions at all levels of authority, prepares the Proposal of the policy of cooperation with diaspora.

In this way, they want to improve the cooperation with diaspora in a comprehensive way and connect the expatriates with the development of their homeland.
