javne-nabavke111-696x456During 2015, public institutions signed 11.864 contracts on public procurements worth at least 1.1 billion BAM. Information about every procurement are available from the database of the Center for Investigative Journalism (CIN), which incorporates data from the beginning of 2011 until the end of 2015.

Total amounts are even larger because final values are not stated for some contracts. As in previous years, the largest amount of money was spent in electrical energy management enterprises, thermal power plants and mines, as well as in other enterprises in the electrical-energetic sector.

Of 647 institutions and enterprises that published tenders during last year, the Public Enterprise “Elektroprivreda BIH” made the largest traffic. This enterprise paid 151.4 million BAM for the procurement of machines, consumables, execution of works and the making of reports and elaborates. At the same time, the Clinical Center University of Sarajevo signed the largest number of individual contracts, 1.508, for the procurement of consumable medical supplies and drugs.

Institutions in BiH spend 25.6 million BAM last year for procurement of fuel, plus nearly eight million BAM for passenger and field vehicles.

Ministry of Defense of BiH last year spent 128.341 BAM for procurement of religious literature and miscellaneous inventory for the needs of religious communities in this institution and for paying pilgrimage for some individuals. The Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees of FBiH will pay 1.8 million BAM for three-year procurement of seedlings of berries and irrigation systems for returnees at the territory of BiH.

Companies that got the largest amounts of money from public procurements published in newspapers are those from Sarajevo, a little over 170 million BAM, then from Banja Luka, nearly 113 million BAM, and then from Mostar, nearly 103.5 million BAM.

Public procurement system in BiH was created 12 years ago, when it was defined under which conditions and in which way the public money can be spent. Agency for Public Procurement of BiH and the Procurement Review Body for BiH were founded then, as institutions in charge of monitoring, control and review procedures during public procurement.
