How Parents in Yugoslavia raised their Children (video)

An old video of a conversation with students who then attended the third grade of an elementary school in Belgrade about how their parents raised them was published on social networks.

The video was made in the early 1980s. All the little ones mentioned that their parents beat them, which was a common practice at the time. One boy said with a smile on his face that his parents beat him once or twice a day. Another one told how they beat him with a belt.

“I get beaten strongly with a stick”, “I get beaten with a wooden spoon and it hurts”, “I get beaten with a stick and it doesn’t hurt that much”, “My mom beats me and she beats me wherever she can“, are also some of the answers.

The journalist asked one of them if he thought that beatings were necessary, to which he answered in the affirmative. She wondered why.

“When children can’t understand something, then their brains shake a little and then they figure it out all,” he said.

The video caught the attention of social media users. Some consider this to be child abuse, while others don’t consider it a problem.

“Sick. Abuse of children”, “No wonder we are the way we are today with this kind of thinking that it is okay to regularly beat children”, “Healthy generation”, “It was discipline”, they wrote, Klix.ba reports.
