HR Schmidt meets German Foreign Minister Baerbock

High Representative Christian Schmidt met yesterday in Sarajevo with the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, to discuss the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. “BiH’s borders and Bosnia and Herzegovina are non-negotiable. Everyone can live in this country as they want, where they want – in peace,” said the High Representative after the meeting.

The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Zeljko Komsic and members Sefik Dzaferovic and Milorad Dodik received today in Sarajevo the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Annalena Baerbock.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany was welcomed and satisfied with the very good and friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany, which are confirmed by the intensity of the high-level visit.

The continued and strong support of Germany for Bosnia and Herzegovina and active commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina to be on the agenda of European Union priorities, and Germany’s support will be continued bilaterally and multilaterally, said in a statement the Presidency of BiH.

The interlocutors agreed that it is of great importance to maintain the focus and constructive engagement of Germany in supporting the reform and integration path of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It was said that Germany stands firm in its position and already established position regarding the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and changes in the Election Law, democratic principles and rule of law, and the new German government fully continues the policy of support and engagement towards Bosnia and Herzegovina.

There was also talk of economic cooperation, where it was said that for German economic cooperation and investment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the priority sectors are energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

The topics of the meeting were also the economic perspective for young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Germany’s support for this sector.

The meeting was also attended by the Special Envoy of the Government of Germany for the countries of the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin.
