HR Schmidt met with the President of Bulgaria

High Representative Christian Schmidt met with the President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev today to discuss current political developments, focusing on reforms and challenges facing Bosnia and Herzegovina on its Euro-Atlantic path.

Emphasizing the importance of the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina should be ensured the opportunity for growth and prosperity, the high representative noted that creating a prosperous future for Bosnia and Herzegovina and its citizens is the primary responsibility of domestic politicians, and the international community is ready to support sincere domestic efforts, it was announced from of OHR.

He further noted that the synergy between Dayton and Brussels can help the country move forward, but this will require the full engagement of both domestic and international actors.

“Citizens have been expressing their support for the accession process for a long time, and now it is up to the politicians to achieve results that reflect the clear will of the people. Dayton is a solid basis for the integration of BiH into the European Union,” said Schmidt.

The High Representative also expressed his gratitude to President Radev for Bulgaria’s contribution to the efforts of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bulgaria supports the mission of the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina to guarantee the security and stability of the country, which is of key importance for strengthening stability in the entire region.

President Rumen Radev added that Bulgaria strongly supports the efforts of the Office of the High Representative to strengthen the very foundations of the democratic process by implementing the necessary reforms that enable the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the way to the EU.
