Today, a prayer service will be held to commemorate the victims of the Donja Gradina concentration camp, marking the Day of Remembrance of Serbs, Jews, Roma and numerous anti-fascists, victims of the Jasenovac Ustasha concentration camp.

Official data from the Jasenovac Memorial Area lists 83,145 victims of the camp complex to which the one in Donja Gradina belonged. The Donja Gradina Memorial Area states that 700,000 people were killed in Jasenovac during World War II.

The NDH death camp system included around 80 camps, and the Donja Gradina camp, as the largest execution site in the Jasenovac concentration camp system, was established in August 1941 and was active until April 1945, when the camp inmates organized a breakout in an attempt to save themselves.

Visitors and officials are expected to arrive at the Memorial Area in Donja Gradina at 10 a.m., while the laying of wreaths and flowers at the Topola cemetery is planned for 11:30 a.m.

A memorial service and remembrance service for the victims of the genocide will be held at the Hrastovi cemetery at 12 p.m.
